Need residents input

Hi Barrington Cove Residents,

We had a fairly large group attend our neighborhood meeting regarding the swales this past Tuesday, with around 20 people attending the meeting.    I know some residents had prior commitments and were not able to attend.  Whether you were able to attend or not, below is a recap of what was discussed:

First and foremost, Bill Arndt, our board member, would like to see our community come together, so we can be united as one.  He has been in touch with an attorney, Jennifer Nichols, who specializes in HOA law and transitioning and is planning on having a meeting with a small group of residents and the attorney next week to discuss her services.  She was recommended by a real estate attorney who is the president of Marsilea HOA who just went through the transition with D.R. Horton.   After we meet with Jennifer Nichols, we will discuss whether it is beneficial to hire her to help us with the transition.   This will also bring our community together by having an attorney be the voice for the whole community.
Bill is also looking into whether we are able to set up Barrington Cove LLC for business matters, such as being able to open a bank account to put money in a central location for any services we have to pay for from the present to when the association is handed over to us.  This LLC will also help bring our community together.
Finally, Bill is also working on a website for Barrington Cove, where residents can acquire information about the community.  We will still keep the Barrington Cove facebook page.  Not every resident uses facebook (and if you do have Facebook and haven’t heard about our Facebook page, search for Barrington Cove Families- it is a closed group) and I don’t have every homeowners email.  This will also help bring our community together.
Once our community comes together, we can decide on whether it is in our best interest to hire an engineer to look at our water management system, berms, and any other concerns we may have with our property before D.R. Horton hands over the association to us.  Chris Hagan was at our meeting on Tuesday and briefly explained how he originally designed this system for the previous owners of the property and when DR Horton purchased the property, Hagan was still involved while modifications D.R. Horton made to the system were being looked at by the state and county (yes, DR Horton did make modifications to Chris Hagan’s original design), basically to protect the original owners in case the deal fell through- they didn’t want to have a water management system that couldn’t easily be converted back.
Mr. Hagan did explain his services he can offer, along with his pricing (which Mr. Hagan kindly typed for us in an email).  You can read his email below, which was all explained at the meeting.
We would like to meet one more time to decide on whether it is in our best interests to hire an engineer and whether we believe Chris Hagan would be the best engineer to hire.
Thank you in advance with helping our community unite as one.  If you have any questions about bringing our community together you can email our board member, Bill Arndt: bill.arndt@mail.com or me at jrkuzie@aol.com.
Your neighbor,
Jen Moen
